Can it realy be true - a 39 year old racer is absolutly dominating the womens pro peloton?

What has this improbable scenario got to do with the original topic anyway?

I thought part of the reduction in doping allowed for 2 things:

  1. Younger riders now stood a chance at the start of their careers, and
  2. Older talented riders could do okay later in their careers because the gap between career peaking riders and late career riders was smaller as well.

But I could be totally wrong.

Actually - no. And I point to the interview of Matt Stevens with Pippa York where she explains the inner workings and what a transition does to your body. I wouldn’t expect many people to stay from this outcome of losing ~20% of power output.

The YouTube video is definitely worth it!
